4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but in desperate need of an overhaul., November 28, 2009

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program ( What's this?)
I had the privilege of owning its predecessor several years ago, the G25, so I knew mostly what to expect with this new G27, but I was still expecting so much more from Logitech. The expression "Logitech giveth and Logitech taketh away" seems most pertinent.

So, let's start:

Opening the box and getting everything out is very simple. All the parts are well designed, but you're immediately greeted with what I think is the biggest issue with the G25/27 set, - the cables. So many cables! 400 cables! (at least it feels like it)

The wheel has a cable coming out of it that goes into your PS3; the pedals have a cable coming out of it; the shifter has a cable coming out of it, and then there's the power brick that has a cable to be plugged in. All these cables plug into the wheel itself, and it's definitely not a pretty sight. I don't know about other people, but I don't have a place where I can leave my steering wheel/shifter/pedals plugged in 24/7, so setting... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars G27 on PS3, January 16, 2010

This review is from: Logitech G27 Racing Wheel (Personal Computers)
Extremely well made, I bought both G27 and the GT wheel for comparison. At first I wasn't sure whether the $200 difference is worth it, until I tried both out. Played F1 championship, GT5 prologue, GT5 demo and Dirt 2. If you can foot the bill, G27 is hands down better. Better construction and quality (GT wheel has plastic pedals, G27 has metal paddle and pedals), feels more solid and the force feed back feels accurate and keen.
Another example of this being a well designed product is, on other wheels I've tried, the foot pedals are spring loaded with the same resistance. G27 however has different spring rate on the throttle and brake, which makes it extremely realistic. I'm not sure if that was software or hardware controlled but I like it.
There are problems with this wheel, it isn't fully supported by all the racing games in PS3.

For example, paddle shifting in GT5 prologue doesn't work (although GT5 HD when it comes out will work, GT5 demo works) so if I... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars G27, October 15, 2009
This review is from: Logitech G27 Racing Wheel (Personal Computers)
Pros: Well built. Leather wheel feels much better than plastic. Clutch, break, gas all have different push pressure. Feedback force feels great. I just hope the motor won't give up on me any time soon!
Paddle shifters made out of metal and when shifting they feel very durable and firm.
Installation was a breeze.

Cons: The leather is no BMW quality! However, as mentioned before, it's much better than plastic wheel.
The screws that attach the wheel and shift stick to the table are made of plastic and give impression if you screw them too hard they'll crack. But so far so good.
Lots of cables. But I just taped them together and it's now manageable.
Have no horn button?.. :)

I don't have much to say about manual shift stick. It feels alright but I don't use it in any games( takes longer to shift), only paddle shifters.
I've never tried g25, so I can't compare them but judging from the pictures, extra buttons on g27 give a... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply the most bang for your buck ..., June 30, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
I sponsor the Old Sarge Racing Team in Project Torque, with more than sixty members, and monthly award two of these wheels to my most improved drivers. So far I've bought a total of eight of them, most coming from Amazon when they're in stock and a couple more from Beach Audio, The recording Store and The Price Pros, all reliable Amazon affiliates. I'll buy one more tomorrow and another the first of next week. All have arrived promptly and all of them are still working hard. My personal wheel has more than 35,000 in-game miles over a period of some six months and still looks and feels new. The other seven drivers who've received them have also piled up mile after mile with no failures and no problems.

A couple of reviews I've seen mention the limited turning radius and claim that this is a shortcoming compared to the Logitech G-25s and G-27s. Actually, that's the biggest virtue of the wheel. In ninety degree or greater turns, you have to cross your hands over at least once... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars I was amazed!!!, September 24, 2009
First, let me say that I am new to racing games. I have played the Need For Speed Series, but that is really it. A friend of mine mentioned that the Thrustmaster Ferrari F430 Racing Wheel was compatible with Dirt 2 on the PS3. I contacted Thrustmaster and sure enough, it is! They said that Codemasters had worked with them to get their wheels tech programmed into the game. I was sold. I bought the F430 and Dirt 2. I WAS AMAZED at how comfortable this wheel is. Make no mistake, this wheel is as sturdy a wheel as I have ever used. I tried to play some games on teh Xbox 360 using the Microsoft wheel and when my palms sweat (which was often due to my n00b status), my hands would slip. On the Thrustmaster F430 wheel, the grip is a VERY high quality rubber that meant ZERO slipping when my hands got sweaty. I was also very impressed with the responsiveness of the force feedback. I got to the point where I could tell I was in control and driving the right line, simply by how the... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars You won't regret it!, June 19, 2009
By
I bought this Ferrari wheel because of the price (the G25 was over $200 all around the web) and that was the best thing I did!

The wheel is rock solid, metal made with rubber cover around the wheel itself, the gear paddles are made of metal too as well as the pedals.

The wheel has a good grip, good quality and even it's 270 I can't complain! Works perfect for my F1 races online with rFactor.

And the Manettino was a nice surprise, I can configure a lot of different settings for it, it really helps while in the middle of a race and you need to change some setup or driving aid for your car.

That's the best you can get for the price, why pay more and have a similar product when you can own this superb piece of hardware?

That's the best for the bucks and after all, it's a Ferrari! Your friends will be impressed with the horse logo in the middle of it.

I recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Logitech Product, November 13, 2002
By

This review is from: Logitech MOMO Force Feedback Racing Wheel (Personal Computers)
One of the most impressive things about this wheel is that within 10 minutes of removing it from the box, I had it installed on my computer and was using it in a game. Logitech scores again with rock solid software that is easy to install and use.

Once I started to use it, the other good parts about the wheel became apparent within a very brief amount of time.

FORM FACTOR: Compared to other force feedback wheels, this takes up a surprisingly small abount of desk real estate. Once clamped onto a desk, the unit only takes up a 7 inch by 14 inch area of space. The clamping mechanism is notable for not extending very far below the desk. This means there is less for you to bump your legs on and it makes it possible to clamp it in a wider variety of locations.

PEDALS: In my previous wheels, the pedal unit would slide all over the place on my wood floors. This unit, though has a big enough base that there is absolutely no sliding whatsover. In addition, there is a little... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Cheap Imitation, January 3, 2005
By
A. Hon (Bay Area, CA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Logitech MOMO Force Feedback Racing Wheel (Personal Computers)
Short version: This wheel is a cheap plastic imitation of its higher quality forbears. It works, but it doesn't give anywhere near the realistic driving experience the previous models gave.

Long version:

My friend bought the original, red Logitech Wingman Formula Force (...) a couple years back. I borrowed it recently to play with NASCAR Racing 2003 and loved it. The experience was quite realistic. So I thought to get my own.

First I bought the standard Logitech Wingman Formula Force GP (...), because it didn't seem the MOMO version was much different (...), and I didn't want to bother with the rebate. I thought the cheaper price reflected savings in production efficiencies. The GP wheel was shockingly different, in a bad way. The original red Wingman Formula Force has some kind of ball bearing, spring and damper system that lets the wheel turn freely, but give varying amounts of force feedback depending on the game. The original red wheel lets... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Tremendous wheel, November 24, 2002
By
This review is from: Logitech MOMO Force Feedback Racing Wheel (Personal Computers)
I am a hardcore online racing addict spending several hours online racing each night. I have had 3 Logitech Wheels in my time. Logitech Wingman FF, Logitech MOMO Force and Logitech MOMO Driver.

Logitech Momo Racing (my thoughts)
The Good - Full rubber grip. Extended turning range. Very accurate & precise. Strong Force Feedback which can be adjusted. Good pedals. Nice pressure on brake pedal. Fairly long throw on pedals. Stick shift option. 6 buttons on wheel. Easy to instal. Solid construction. Good web site support. Wingman profiler good program to help fine tune setup. Fairly easy to get used to the wheel. Nice times achieved after little practice. 3 clamping system very solid. Wheel looks good. Quality control better than on Logitech Momo Force. Pedals superior the the force model as far as getting better race times.

The Not So Good - have to extend fingers too much to reach gear paddles. Paddles not a solid feel to them. Problem with right gear paddle, double shifts... Read more
